Roger presently holds the post of Research Fellow/part time Lecturer at the Health Economics Unit (HEU), Centre for Health Economics, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus. He holds a Master’s of Science Degree in Economics, with a specialization in Health Economics.
Roger has been conducting research in Health & Social Issues for the past 20 years covering such areas as Health Sector Reform and Sexual and Reproductive Health, Drug Abuse, Poverty and Ageing, and its impact both within the local & regional economies. Roger has been involved in a number of technical advisory committees both at a national & regional level, including PAHO/WHO Technical Advisory Group on HIV/AIDS, The Priority Areas Advisory Committee of the Pan Caribbean Partnership on HIV/AIDS (PANCAP) & the Regional Technical Working Group on Information Systems for health. He is one of the founding members of the UWI HIV-AIDS Response Programme (UWIHARP).
His publications include work on Risk and Vulnerability, Cost Effectiveness of Cervical Cancer Prevention programmes, Mobile Populations, Ageing in the Caribbean, Modeling the Macroeconomic impact of HIV-AIDS, HIV and Security in the Caribbean and HIV and Mobile Populations.
He has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Family Planning Association of Trinidad and Tobago for the past sixteen years and presently serves as vice president.
