User Guidelines and Comment Policy
IPPF/WHR encourages our online community to actively comment on news stories and blog posts on our website and social media pages – such as Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest. We are dedicated to cultivating an engaged community and strive to maintain a respectful and informative conversation. A few tips for how to be a good online community member can be found here.
To ensure our goals are accomplished effectively, we have created general guidelines for commenting. Our Online Administrator, who acts as the community moderator, enforces these guidelines. If you wish to participate in our community, we request that you follow our guidelines and do your part in creating a thriving and considerate community.
(I) Comments that consistently or intentionally prevent our online community from being a courteous and enjoyable place will be excluded from it.
IPPF/WHR promotes an engaging, open, and courteous atmosphere where critical, in-depth, and informative discussions and debates are encouraged. Everyone is invited and encouraged to voice their opinion regardless of whether they are in agreement with our staff, our contributors, or other community members. However, the comment must be made in a way that is respectful and constructively contributes to the conversation. Examples of behavior that will not be tolerated in our community include: direct or indirect name-calling, attacks, offensive language, or insults; unsupported accusations; derailing or hijacking; trolling; or baiting others into an emotional response. These types of comments will be promptly removed and the commenter will be warned or, if necessary, excluded from the community.
(II) Comments that are violent in nature will not be tolerated and may be reported to the authorities.
IPPF/WHR takes the safety of our community very seriously, and we expect our online community to be a safe space for all individuals and their ideas. For that reason, language that is directly or indirectly violent or hostile is not welcome in our online community. A commenter who threatens the physical or emotional well being of a member of our community will be removed immediately. Depending on the degree and credibility of the threat, the commenter may also be reported to law enforcement agencies and we will cooperate with them to any extent requested. If you see any threats or harassment in our community, please report it to firstname.lastname@example.org.
(III) Participate honestly and transparently.
IPPF/WHR believes every person is valuable, and we want our online community to reflect the unique personalities of our participants. Please do not misrepresent yourself or others and do not spread misinformation about yourself or others. Also, do not use our community as a place for self-promotion or spam. Doing so will make our community a less enjoyable place, and we will remove these types of comments and commenters when we see them.
(IV) Maintaining a safe and enjoyable community is everyone’s responsibility.
All of our community members have the power and obligation to create a pleasant and informative atmosphere where engaging dialogue takes place. Help us monitor our community by reporting trolls and others who may be degrading the space to email@example.com.
(V) Your thoughts and opinions are important.
We are real people who care about your experience in our community. If you have questions, concerns, or feedback – positive or critical – that you would like to share, please reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
IPPF/WHR understands that privacy is very important to our supporters. This policy applies to all information received by IPPF/WHR, both online and offline, on any Platform ("Platform", includes the IPPF/WHR website and mobile applications), as well as any electronic, written, or oral communications.
All information concerning donors or prospective donors is kept strictly confidential by IPPF/WHR and its staff unless permission is obtained from the donor to release such information, or unless disclosure is required by due legal process.
Upon donor request, IPPF/WHR will not sell, share or trade our donors' names or personal information with any other entity, nor send mailings to our donors on behalf of other organizations. In order to opt out of any such exchange, please email email@example.com.
If you supply us with your postal address or e-mail address online or offline you may receive periodic mailings from us with information on our programs and services. If you do not want to receive postal mail and/or e-mail from us in the future, please let us know by sending your request via e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
To the extent any donations are processed through a third-party service provider, those providers are required to sign a confidentiality and privacy agreement, and our donors’ information will only be used for purposes necessary to process the donation.
IPPF/WHR recognizes that the operation of the organization requires the maintenance and management of extensive donor and prospect records. Donor records often contain sensitive information that has been shared with or developed by IPPF/WHR staff on a confidential basis. “Records” means all files, including electronic data, containing information on donors or prospective donors to IPPF/WHR. IPPF/WHR conducts research on existing and potential donors using only publicly available information, in order to inform our fundraising strategies. IPPF/WHR affirms that we do not elicit information that is not already publicly available. The use of donor information is limited to internal purposes, by authorized individuals, to better service existing donors, potential donors or partner relationships. We make every effort to ensure the security of this information. To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the proper use of information, we have established and implemented appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect.
The Development Director, with the support of all development staff, shall be responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of donor and prospect records and will ensure that all staff have clear direction regarding the confidentiality of records through the establishment of appropriate operating procedures. In addition, all staff are required to sign an employee confidentiality agreement which includes all donor-related information. The Development Director may, in his/her discretion, make all or part of any record available to staff members or volunteers if essential to them in executing their responsibilities. To carry out its responsibilities, the Board of Directors may need to review donor/prospect records. All directors shall respect IPPF/WHR’s significant interest in protecting the sensitive nature of those records and shall maintain these policies for donor confidentiality.
IPPF/WHR’s auditors are authorized to review donor and prospect records as required for the purposes for which they are engaged.
IPPF/WHR may recognize the names of donors in our print and digital Annual Report, and other donor publications. IPPF/WHR recognizes donors who make gifts of $250 and above, as well as donors who are part of Partners for Choice, the Rosa Cisneros Legacy Society, or donors who have graduated to special anniversary level from one to twenty-five years, unless they request their gift be listed as "Anonymous." Please make such a request via email to email@example.com.
