Asociación Demográfica Salvadoreña (ADS)
ADS is the largest non-governmental sexual and reproductive health care provider in El Salvador. Its integrated services include gynecological care, contraception distribution, STI testing and treatment, and cervical cancer screening. ADS has a strong and well-organized program that expands access to people who live in rural communities and operates three mobile health units that deliver care. In 2013, ADS provided more than 1.3 million services throughout the country.
ADS started its youth leadership program in 1995. It brings comprehensive sexuality education to young people through school and community-based workshops led by peer health educators. ADS also offers health services for young people at all twelve of its clinics, and after a South-South exchange with Profamilia Colombia on youth-friendly care, ADS increased its services to young people by 95% the following year.
ADS also has a national television show that offers information and advice to Salvadorans on a variety of sexual and reproductive health issues, such as family planning and HIV prevention. It also carries out advocacy campaigns that promote comprehensive sexuality education and call for the elimination of gender-based violence.
