Ivan manages the education and community outreach programs at CIES in Bolivia. As a former police officer, Ivan has witnessed firsthand the discrimination and violence directed towards street youth. “These youth have a lot of potential and creativity,” he explains. “If they are reacting aggressively against adults, it’s because they have had to live through harsh discrimination.”

The United Nations Foundation is sponsoring four young women from Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, and Peru, selected to conduct original advocacy. The project aims to increase the participants’ capacity to serve as youth activists and to promote and advance sexual and reproductive health and rights in Latin America and at international meetings.
