| What is the relationship between IPPF/WHR and Planned Parenthood? |
|
"Planned Parenthood" is a trademark of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA), which has affiliates in the United States.
PPFA was one of the eight founders of the International Planned Parenthood Federation in 1952. PPFA is IPPF/WHR's Member Association in the United States and is unique in several ways: it is the largest Member Association; it is separately incorporated; it does not receive funds from IPPF/WHR; and it is the only member that has its own international program for family planning.

| What does IPPF/WHR do and where do you work? |
|
We are a network of 41 sexual and reproductive health organizations across North America, Latin America, and the Caribbean. Our Member Associations provide 19.4 million services each year; these range from sexuality education, contraceptive services, and prenatal care to HIV testing, post-abortion care, and screening for gender-based violence. We also act as advocates for sexual and reproductive rights at the local and international levels.

| How can I access sexual and reprodutive health services? |
|
Our Regional Office in New York City does not provide health services. We offer technical and financial support to our Member Associations, primarily in Latin America and the Caribbean. | How is IPPF/WHR's work related to the environment? |
|
Meeting the sexual and reproductive health needs and fulfilling the rights of all people, particularly in developing countries, intrinsically supports a just and sustainable world. By educating young people, increasing access to health services, and empowering individuals to exercise their sexual and reproductive rights, we are contributing to the many factors that impact positively on our environment, in particular alleviating poverty.

| How is IPPF/WHR funded? |
|
IPPF/WHR relies on support from individuals, foundations, and governments for its essential sexual and reproductive health care services. As a member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation, IPPF/WHR receives core support from IPPF for its ongoing operations. We have not received funding from the U.S. government since 2001, when IPPF/WHR refused to sign the Global Gag Rule, resulting in a loss of $12 million in funding. This deplorable policy denies U.S. development aid to any group that provides abortion services, or advocates for changes in abortion laws with its own funds.
International Planned Parenthood Federation/Western Hemisphere Region, Inc. is recognized as tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. EIN 13-1845455. For more information please view our most recent Annual Report or Financial Statement.

Support from our donors is the cornerstone of our work in Latin America and the Caribbean. It enables us to provide over 19 million sexual and reproductive health services each year to women, men, and young people throughout the region. A large part of our services reach the poorest of the poor - people who would otherwise never receive health care in their lifetime.
