Asociación Panameña Para El Planeamiento De La Familia (APLAFA)
APLAFA is the leading NGO providing sexual and reproductive health services in Panama. It provides high quality, integrated care though eight clinics nationwide and maintains an important presence in the country through advocacy, outreach, and communications campaigns. The services APLAFA offers include gynecological care, contraceptives, and HIV and STI prevention, testing, and treatment. It prioritizes reaching people who are poor and marginalized.
APLAFA has a network of youth leaders who focus on educating their peers about sexual and reproductive health, particularly HIV and STI prevention, and distributing condoms. The youth also participate in advocacy through the Mesoamerican Coalition, which promotes comprehensive sexuality education and youth-friendly services. APLAFA participated in the design of Panama’s national Implementation Guide for Youth-friendly Services.
