Asociación Demográfica Salvadoreña (ADS)
As the largest sexual and reproductive health NGO in El Salvador, ADS improves people’s quality of life by providing integrated health services, particularly to poor and marginalized populations. Its services include provision of contraceptives, gynecological care, STI diagnosis and treatment, and HIV prevention, counseling, and testing. ADS is the primary supplier of condoms in El Salvador.
ADS’s youth leadership program began in 1995 and reaches young people under the age of 25 through school- and community-based workshops, led by peer health educators, and a nationally broadcast television program that gives advice on issues like contraception, family planning, how to avoid pregnancy, and the prevention and detection of STIs. Health services for youth are available at all ADS clinics, and community health promoters provide information and contraceptives to young people living in rural areas.
As a member of the Mesoamerican Coalition, ADS carries out advocacy initiatives promoting comprehensive sexuality education and youth-friendly services. It is also involved in a partnership to develop and implement advocacy campaigns for the eradication of sexual violence.
