Stories from the Field   Video: Bolivia's Forgotten Youth   GEAR Campaign

Renata and Roselly are youth volunteers at BEMFAM, our Member Association in Brazil, where over 15 percent of young women have sex before they turn 15. As part of the peer educator team in one of the country’s poorest areas, they  teach other young people about contraceptive use.

In Bolivia, thousands of youth live on the street. IPPF is playing a crucial role in serving these young people who are oftentimes discriminated against, marginalized and afforded few sustainable employment opportunities due to political and economic turmoil in Bolivia.

On February 26, 2008 sixteen non-governmental organizations (NGOs) launched the ongoing Campaign for a Stronger Gender Equality Architecture Reform (GEAR), at the United Nations.  The GEAR campaign calls on United Nations Member States to create a stronger United Nations entity for women.
