This publication is drawn from a pilot project implemented by IPPF/WHR and the International Budget Partnership to determine the extent to which governments fulfill international commitments to reduce maternal mortality. The research was carried out in Costa Rica, Guatemala, El Salvador, Panama, and Peru. It assessed the availability of information on public policies aimed at reducing maternal mortality and on the resources committed to implement these policies in each country.
