The Asociación Hondureña de la Planificación de Familia (ASHONPLAFA) plays an important role in the provision of sexual and reproductive health related services and information in Honduras.  The association provides a wide range of contraceptive and health services, including Pap smears, pre- and post-natal care, family planning general counseling, and treatment services for various STIs.  ASHONPLAFA provides services and contraceptives through 2,997 service delivery points, which include: 24 static clinics, one mobile clinic, three associated clinics, 1,669 community-based distribution points and 1,300 commercial marketing points. ASHONPLAFA-Honduras provided a total of 407,008 services in 2007.

Since 2006, ASHONPLAFA has offered services to vulnerable and rural populations through their Mobile Health Units. ASHONPLAFA has provided trainings on topics such as stigma and discrimination, review of pre- and post-test counseling procedures and role play and practice of Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT) related skills. The association has also integrated HIV and gender based violence (GBV) work and participates in the National Committee on GBV and the Regional GBV Network. ASHONPLAFA is also involved in committees which advocate for the rights of people living with HIV/AIDS, also promotes comprehensive sexuality education and legal protection for survivors of gender based violence.
