FreeChoiceSavesLives is an initiative of the International Planned Parenthood Federation/Western Hemisphere Region (IPPF/WHR), originally created to gather support against the Global Gag Rule and its dangerous impact on the developing world. Over the years it has evolved into something much larger. Today the FreeChoiceSavesLives online advocacy center informs and educates its members about a broad range of sexual and reproductive health and human rights issues.  The site's members advocate for changes in national, regional, and international policies and receive up-to-date sexual and reproductive health news.

IPPF/WHR and its 40 Member Associations throughout the Americas are committed to promoting the right of every individual to access quality sexual and reproductive health services, in particular the poor and the underserved. Our Member Associations provide 19.4 million services each year. These range from sexuality education, contraceptive services, and prenatal care to HIV testing, abortion-related care, and screening for gender-based violence. We also advocate for sexual and reproductive rights at the local, national, and international levels. Our clients are women, men, and adolescents from diverse economic, cultural, and geographic backgrounds.

IPPF/WHR is a regional office of the International Planned Parenthood Federation – the world’s largest voluntary organization in sexual and reproductive health and rights.
