Women Who Inspire Change: Ashley Judd

Rhiannon Krawl, Guest Contributor

Although I have never met Ashley Judd, I've been fortunate to hear her message of empowerment and self-worth. For me, this message couldn't have come at a better time.

This has been a difficult year for me. A month before I was supposed to make the trying transition into college, I developed a debilitating anxiety disorder that turned my life upside down. The disorder caused me to pull away from my friends and become practically agoraphobic. Learning about Ashley Judd overcoming her own trials and tribulations to excel as an actress and philanthropist, provided the inspiration for me to get healthy. I am now a successful college freshman and my panic disorder is relatively under control.

I am currently working on a short film that details my path to overcoming my disorder and finding a passion for filmmaking. I hope my film will then help others to overcome their own obstacles. None of this would have been possible without the supportive messages and amazing example set forth by Ashley Judd.
