A Note of Thanks from Carmen Barroso on International Volunteer Day

Dr. Carmen Barroso, Regional Director

On the occasion of the United Nations International Volunteer Day, the International Planned Parenthood Federation/Western Hemisphere Region (IPPF/WHR) commends the many men, women, and youth throughout our region who selflessly volunteer their time and talent.

Throughout Latin America and the Caribbean, a strong cadre of volunteers lends their expertise and skills to strengthening IPPF/WHR’s reach and effectiveness—and it shows. Last year, we provided more than 26 million health services. These services—including violence prevention, contraception, and prenatal care—save lives and improve communities.

The incredible dedication of our volunteer network is essential to our success in realizing our vision of a world of choice and opportunity for all. From youth peer educators to members of our advisory board, our volunteers are at the heart of the IPPF/WHR family and the core of our success.

On behalf of IPPF/WHR’s staff, thank you for your passion, your talent, and your conviction that together we will secure sexual and reproductive health and rights for all.
