Finishing the 44th CPD Meeting: “Youth vision and experiences”

Finishing the 44th Commission on Population and Development, the youth from Latin America and the Caribbean have placed their efforts on comprehensive sexual education, access to sexual and reproductive health services, sexual and reproductive rights and youth participation.

This process has permitted us to learn more about the process of including and defending our rights. In this opportunity, rights regarding our sexual and reproductive health with a focus on equality, rights and social justice.

For many of us, this has been our first time at the United Nations. It has been an enriching experience, where we have been at the heart of the struggle, passion, challenge and commitment regarding our rights, all the time lobbying in order for our voices to be heard and taken into account.
Among our most prominent activities, we must highlight our oral statement given at the plenary and our widespread written campaign concerning our demands regarding the CDP. Our best strategy to work successfully is strengthening and maintaining the youth networks and the teamwork for one united youth voice, a strategy that will be constantly improved as we continue our work.

As civil society, we will do the necessary monitoring and follow up in our respective countries and regions, positioning youth participation in national and regional public policy-making as part of our commitment and exercise of our rights, all the while keeping in mind that we are in the Year of Youth. It’s our time, these are our rights!
